AI for Solo Founders
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5, 2026
I turned 40 yesterday.
Every goal I wrote down for this year got hit before the birthday came, including the house we just moved into.
A couple of years ago I walked away from a business with nothing, with a kid a few months from being born, and I genuinely could not see the path from there to here.
So what I'm actually sitting with this week is gratitude for you. You're the reason I get to do the thing I love and get paid for it. Spend my days with my family, and then spend a few hours handing over whatever I've picked up across 15 years of building businesses, mostly by getting it wrong first.
That's the whole job now. Thank you for making it one.
Here's the week.
August 3, 2026.
THIS WEEK IN AI
1
Their AI browser launched in October and it's dead nine months later. Browser agents move into the ChatGPT desktop app, Chrome and Codex instead, so the capability survives even though the app doesn't. If you installed it, export your bookmarks before August 9 or they're gone. The lesson I'd take from it: don't rebuild your whole workflow around a brand new standalone app. Build it around the thing you'd still be using if that app vanished.

Anthropic has been running weekly limits 50 percent higher than standard since May, and they've now extended it twice. It ends August 19 for Pro, Max and Team. So you've got two weeks of extra room. If there's a build you've been putting off because you didn't want to burn your whole week in one sitting, this is the window to do it in.

During a security test, GPT-5.6 Sol and an unreleased model found a zero-day in a package registry cache, got out onto the open internet, and compromised Hugging Face's production systems to steal the answer key for the benchmark they were being graded on. OpenAI had turned their cyber refusals down so they'd attempt the test at all. Nobody is coming for your laptop over this. But almost everyone I talk to is running Claude Code or Codex with permissions skipped, inside a folder that has their API keys sitting in a plain text file. If that's you, move the keys out this week and stop hitting approve on autopilot.

Hot Take
I film one video a day by hand. That's the whole content system.
People ask me constantly what I'm running. Where's the batching setup, what's the pipeline, what's the machine producing something new every single day.
There isn't one. I film one video a day. That's it.
I do use AI on my content, to be clear. I've trained it to write and sound like me and it's genuinely good at it now. But that came after, not instead of.
The reason is boring. My two actual problems are overthinking and perfectionism, and no system fixes those. Reps fix those. Filming daily is what built the muscle that made me a creator in the first place, and it's the only thing keeping the overthinking from creeping back in.
So before you automate anything, work out where you're the bottleneck and be honest about why. If the answer is time, automate it. If the answer is that you overthink it and put it off, a better system won't save you. You already know what will.
TOOL OF THE WEEK
ChatGPT Sites logo
ChatGPT Sites
Included on paid ChatGPT plans
ChatGPT builds and hosts websites now. That's the headline everybody saw.
What people are actually doing with it is more interesting. They're taking the spreadsheet, the doc, the deck they'd normally attach to an email, and sending an interactive site instead. A tracker the client can click through. A report that updates itself. A dashboard instead of tab three of an Excel file.
No repo, no Vercel, no deploy step. You ask, it publishes, you send the link.
It's not a toy either. You get a real relational database, file storage, and optional sign in with ChatGPT, so you can gate pages or build something that knows who's looking at it. Custom domains work, you just point your DNS at it. The gap is payments. You can't take money on a Sites page, so build internal tools, client portals and trackers here, not a checkout.
Not live yet in the UK, Switzerland or the EEA.
Verdict: the easiest way to get a real site on the internet right now. Nothing else is close.

PROMPT OF THE WEEK
Rebuild Linktree for your own business
I voice dictated this entire thing. That's the level of effort we're talking about.
It went and researched Linktree, worked out what actually makes it good, gave me three design directions to pick from, built the one I chose with two pricing tiers, and published it. One go.
Two moves in there do most of the work. Telling it to research the thing you're copying instead of describing the features yourself, and making it show you designs before it builds anything. That second one is what saves you from getting handed a finished site you hate.
Then @sites at the end and it deploys.
Build me a Linktree alternative. I want you to go in and research Linktree, figure out all of the features and functions that make it good, and I want you to build one, essentially a version for me specifically for my AI business, where I can go in and I can also change and tweak a few designs if needed. And I want you to also add in pricing tiers, just two pricing tiers, a free version and an upgraded paid version. Start by giving me 3 different design styles that I can choose from using Image Gen 2 and then I'll select the design to build. And I then want you to launch it on @sites
